Heart Health, Part 1
January 5, 2016
Heart disease remains the number one killer in America for both men and women, and yet with all the cholesterol and blood pressure medications prescribed today, the numbers don’t seem to get much better. So much focus has been placed on lowering cholesterol, but cholesterol alone doesn’t cause plaque build-up leading to heart disease and stroke. Plaque is made up of calcium, bad cholesterol, fibrin and cellular waste. Numerous medical studies show clogging of the arterial system begins with inflammation that irritates the lining of the blood vessels which starts a sticking process and build-up of plaque leading to clogging of the arteries. What are some of the things we can do to reduce this inflammation, and increase our heart health? Are there supplements that improve cardiovascular conditions? Click HERE for part 2.

Encore Presentation: Nourishing Broths, Part 1
December 24, 2015
Encore presentation from January 8, 2015: It’s cold outside, and ’tis the season for a hearty broth! We talk to Kaayla Daniel, co-author of " Nourishing Broths: An Old-Fashioned Remedy for a Modern World," who details the health benefits of slow-cooked bone-broths. They’re a mainstay for healing the gut in intestinal disorders, and provide essential nutrients for skin, hair, nails and the skeletal system. The key is natural gelatin! Dr. Daniel weighs in on ancestral diets according to guidelines set forth by the Weston A. Price Foundation; she’s a proponent of “nose-to-tail” consumption of grass-fed, humanely-raised animals. She advocates pasture-raised, unprocessed dairy products, but shares her reservations about over-dependence on soy protein. Click HERE for part 2.
